Twelfth Night
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Jennifer Dick
“My master loves her dearly;
And I, poor monster, fond as much on him;
And she, mistaken, seems to dote on me.
What will become of this?”
Viola, the sole survivor, she believes, of a terrible shipwreck, finds herself a stranger in a strange land, washed up on the shores of Illyria. Disguising herself as a man, she enters the service of the Duke Orsino, handsome and lovelorn, pining after the Lady Olivia, who does not return his affections.
Viola is dispatched to woo the lady, who takes a fancy to this mysterious young “gentleman”, while the “gentleman” herself falls fast and hard for the spurned Duke. How can this tangle be untied?
Shakespeare’s beautiful comedy of love amidst mistaken identity is presented on our outdoor stage, in a joyful new production guaranteed to warm the hardest of hearts. Join us as we banish the dark winter and step into a summer filled with colour and life… Oh and yellow stockings too!
