Medea
By Kathy McKean, after Euripides
Directed by Gordon Barr
Presented in association with Raw Material
“I am not a part of the story you tried to write / I am the story / And it ends when I say so”
Everyone knows how Jason won the Golden Fleece - everyone knows how he became a hero for all time - and everyone knows the part his wife, Medea, played in creating his legend - don't they?
Erased from the narrative - abandoned by her husband for a new wife and a new life - left isolated and alone in a city where she does not and cannot belong - Medea begins to plot revenge - a terrible, bloody revenge that will send a howl of rage echoing through the ages.
The award-winning production of this thrilling Greek tragedy returns re-imagined to tour Scotland's stages with its original cast - Nicole Cooper (Medea), Johnny Panchaud (Jason), Isabelle Joss (Nurse) & Alan Steele (Creon / Tutor)
"Starring Nicole Cooper in the title role, Kathy McKean's powerful new version of Euripides' Medea burns with rage and rips at the heart" (Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman)
