Jane Austen's Emma
In a new version by Jennifer Dick
Directed by Gordon Barr
“I shall never marry. Why would I? If I fell in love then that might be different, but I think it unlikely.”
Emma Woodhouse has it all. She’s handsome, clever and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition. She has very little to distress or vex her. In fact, it might be possible to dislike such a person, were it not for Emma’s determination to do good for all her friends and neighbours – to bring them love and romance – just as long as they fall for whoever she chooses…
But Emma is about to discover that the course of true love rarely runs as smoothly as she would wish. As the romantic web she has woven becomes ever more tangled, could it be that the captured heart is, in fact, her own?
Jane Austen’s sparkling comedy comes to Bard in the Botanics in a brand new adaptation, full of memorable characters, sharp wit and a healthy dose of summer romance!
