Measure for Measure

By William Shakespeare
Adapted by Jennifer Dick

Man, proud man,
Dressed in a little brief authority,
Plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven
As make the angels weep.

What would you do to save your brother’s life?

Isabella’s brother has been condemned to death, by force of a harsh law, being used to curb what some see as dangerous levels of depravity in Vienna.

She appeals to authority, in the form of Angelo, who has a reputation for religious fervour and severity. When he meets Isabella, he offers the novice nun a choice:

Lose her virginity to Angelo and save her brother’s life, or refuse and let him die…

This mesmerising new production of Shakespeare’s powerful and timely story is performed by four actors in the intimate surroundings of the Kibble Palace Glasshouse.

Book now to discover why this absorbing and arresting drama is still so shockingly relevant, even 400 years after it was written.
