Julius Caesar

  • Glasgow Botanic Gardens 730 Great Western Road Glasgow, Scotland, G12 0UE United Kingdom (map)

“Why man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus…
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.

It must be by his death”

What do you do when a leader threatens tyranny over the democracy you hold dear? If you believe, deep in your soul, that this man is a threat to liberty and life? Might you be driven to undertake an act of violence, in order to put an end to a despot?

And if you do, say, commit a horrifying act of public murder, what then?

What happens when you open the door to violence?

Bard in the Botanics opens our summer season with a new production of Shakespeare’s electrifying political thriller, as terrifyingly relevant today as it has ever been. Presented on our outdoor stage, this exciting new production puts the audience in the heart of the action of this unmissable drama.
